The Rockin Tale of Snow White

The Rockin Tale of Snow White was a great musical! I loved acting and singing in it!!! Everyone had so much character and emotion, it really showed that they were amazing actors! Tech Crew really helped too! Without them there would just be actors on stage with no lights or props! We are thankful for tech crew very much! The musical was a lot of fun to be in! I can't wait till the next musical next year!(:

The Sad Man...

Authors Note: This is a picture journal. We get a picture and then we have to write about it. I am using the story as I am a man in the picture.

The wind was blowing in the cold, spring day. The sky was like a dark gray monster about to fall on top of me. I looked up and it started to rain. I found a tree and sat there for the rest of the day. I was soaked but I didn't care about that. The only thing I cared about was my ex. She had left me yesterday. I was horrified. I thought she was the one but I guess not. I didn't move the whole day. But then all of a sudden the clouds started opening up into a bright and sunny day. I looked down at where the sun was hitting. A beautiful girl, with hair as blonde as the sun on a summer day, was standing there. I fell in love at first sight.

Distric Assessment ( Hundredth Dove Response)

Imagine that every day you served someone and did whatever they asked, no matter what. If you had to do something you didn’t want to do, would you do it? This was a big decision for Hugh the fowler. Sometimes you have to do the right thing, but other times you don’t. The Hundredth Dove by Jane Yolen is obviously a tragedy by its plotline, characteristics and purpose.
The plotline of a tragedy in the mode of literature really fits in with the story. First off, the world is in conflict with Hugh. All he does is hunt birds and serve the king! I would not enjoy doing that at all! Second, there is a rise to power for him. Hugh gets a tremendous job to catch one hundred doves to have at the king and queen’s wedding!  If I was Hugh, I wouldn’t want to catch all those birds and eat them! It just doesn’t seem right. Next, there is tragic flaw. Everyday Hugh goes out to catch birds, he always gets 21 doves, but a dove as white as milk, would always escape without a trace. Hugh could never catch that bird! I remember one spring when I was little I saw a white dove. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! Fourth, there is a tragic fall for the white dove. Hugh finally catches it! Lastly, Hugh kills the bird in his hand.
Even though the plotline fits exactly into the story, the characteristics strongly show that “The Hundredth Dove” is a tragedy. One of the characteristics of tragedy is that it is realistic. This story is defiantly realistic because it could happen to anyone in a country that has a monarchy type of government. Another characteristic is that the main character is in control. Since Hugh is the main character, he is mostly in control. He could have not killed the white dove but he did.
While the characteristics clearly state that the story is a tragedy, the purpose in this story really show why this story is a tragedy. One of the purposes for a tragedy is to learn a moral lesson. The lesson was to always think about if you’re going to do the right thing or the wrong thing. Always choose the good path and you won’t have many troubles. This story reminds me of making decisions in my life everyday! I’ve had to make some pretty hard decisions but I know everything will be okay in the end. The other purpose is to learn from our mistakes. Hugh learned because there was no wedding at all and he caught all those birds for nothing. What if he would have done the right thing and not kill the white dove, maybe things would be different.
The plotline, characteristics and purpose all state that “The Hundredth Dove” is clearly a tragedy. Overall the story taught a lesson and made you understand things better. I would probably have done things differently than Hugh had. I would have not killed the dove because if you knew there was obviously a reason it kept escaping, why would you kill it? What would you do if you were in Hugh’s situation?
